Thursday, May 20, 2010: OGRE wins 2010 Battle of Business Bands

Six local rock bands comprised of chief executive officers and employees of Houston-area businesses performed May 20 at the House of Blues in the fourth-annual Houston Business Journal Battle of the Business Bands, with OGRE taking home the top prize. OGRE, a four-member band that rocked the crowd with several classic Led Zeppelin songs, is led by vocalist Steve Stanley, co-owner of Storage Corral in Pasadena. Other band members are Charlie Salazar, a Houston Fire Dept. captain; Bob Gylling, a CenterPoint Energy engineer; and Dewel Higginbotham, a graphic designer with Glazer's Wholesale. OGRE, by the way, stands for "Old Guys Rocking Excessively." Other bands that performed included Retroburn, Camden Birds, Twist & Shout, The Norman Number and The Mighty Profits - winner of the 2009 Battle of the Business Bands. This year's winning band was chosen by three local judges and by votes submitted by attendees by texting their choice via cell phone. The event was held after the conclusion of this year's 40 Under 40 awards presentation, all part of this year's Celebrate! Enterprise business festival sponsored by the Houston Business Journal.

O.G.R.E. is also seeking other places to rock.

Also if you have some pics at the bands gigs please send them to Charlie Salazar and we will put them on our photos page.

As always we appreciate the support from our fans who come hear us jam.
